Privacy Policy

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, your display name, and a password. This is processed and stored by Firebase Authentication, a Google service. You can also set a short PIN for quicker sign-in; it is stored as a salted hash and we never see the number itself.

User-Generated Content: When you use the Discipleship Log, we store your journal entries, scripture references, and notes in Google Firebase Firestore. When you share a log entry, a copy is stored in a publicly accessible collection with your first name only.

Prayer Companion: When you use the AI Prayer Companion, the text you enter is sent to the Anthropic API (Claude) to generate scripture-based prayers. We do not store your prayer requests on our servers beyond the current session. If you save a prayer to your Discipleship Log, that saved entry is stored in Firestore under your account.

Subscription Status: About HIM Plus is not on sale yet, so there is nothing of this kind to collect today. When it launches we will store whether your subscription is active and when it expires, and nothing more. Payment will be handled entirely by Apple or Google — we will never receive your card details, billing address, or any part of your payment method.

Text-to-Speech: The daily psalm can be read aloud. That audio is a recording we made in advance and serve as a file from our own site, so nothing is sent anywhere when you play it. No other text in the app is sent out for audio.

Push Notifications: If you enable push notifications, we store your push subscription endpoint and device information to deliver daily prayer notifications. You can disable notifications at any time from your profile.

Profile Preferences: Start Here and your profile ask for optional preferences — an age range and how you like to read — which are used only to tailor what the app shows you. You can change or skip them, and they are never used to decide whether you may use About HIM.

Abuse Prevention: When you report content or request deletion without signing in, we create a one-way hash of your IP address to count requests per hour and stop floods. We never store the address itself, the hash cannot be reversed to identify you, and these counters are deleted automatically within a few hours.

Reports: If you report content, we store your report and a copy of the reported content so we can review it. If you are signed in, the report is linked to your account; if you delete your account, that link is removed.

Usage Information: We run no analytics. There is no third-party tracking, no advertising pixels, and no behavioral analytics anywhere in About HIM.

We use the following third-party services:

• Firebase (Google): Authentication and data storage. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• Anthropic (Claude API): AI prayer generation. Subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy. Your prayer requests are processed but not used to train AI models.
• ElevenLabs: used by us, ahead of time, to record the psalm narration. Nothing you write or do in the app is sent to them.
• RevenueCat: will manage subscription purchases when About HIM Plus launches, and tell us whether a subscription is active. Nothing is sent to them today, because nothing can be bought. Once it launches they will receive your About HIM account identifier and the purchase events sent by the app store — never your name, your email address, or anything you write in the app. Subject to RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
• Vercel: Web hosting and deployment. Subject to Vercel's Privacy Policy.

Your data is stored in Google Firebase Firestore with security rules that restrict access to your own data. Shared log entries are stored in a separate publicly accessible collection. We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, Firebase security rules, and authenticated API routes.

Your account data and Discipleship Log entries are retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from within the app: open your Profile and choose "Delete my account." This immediately and permanently removes your account, your Discipleship Log entries, your saved preferences, any links you have shared, and your push notification subscriptions. There is no recovery once deleted. If you cannot sign in, you can request deletion at abouthim.app/delete-account, or by emailing support@abouthim.app; requests made that way are actioned within 30 days. Backup copies held by our hosting and database providers are overwritten within 30 days of deletion.

About HIM is for users 13 and older, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@abouthim.app.

You may:

• Access your personal data through your profile
• Update your information at any time
• Delete your account and all associated data at any time from your Profile
• Opt out of push notifications from your profile

About HIM does not display advertisements. We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not share your data with advertisers.

The Service is hosted in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
